The 11th PAUS annual meeting, UROCON 2010 was held between 21-23rd March. There was pre symposium workshop at Indus Hospital and SIUT. The workshop at Indus involved transmission of live surgery to the audience with a lively interactive session. The workshop was conducted by Hammad Ather and Salman el Khalid. There were live opertive session on laparoscopic varicocoele ligation, pediatric PCNL using upper polar puncture, flexi ureteroscopy, endopyelotomy. The workshop at SIUT was focussed on use of HIFU and Brachytherapy in urological cancers. This will perhaps open a new era in minimally invasive treatment uro oncology.
The conference was inaugurated by President PAUS Prof Ahmed Fawad and conference organizing committee chair Dr Majid Rana. The inaugural session was also addresed by the most respected Jurist in Pakistan, Mr Fakhruddin G Ibrahim (chief guest) and Prof Adib Rizvi (guest of honour).
The three meeting had a rich academic program with 6 workshops and instructional courses. They covered a wide range of topics in endourology, uro oncology, andrology, functional urology and reconstructive urology. The meeting had prominent speakers from UK and Egypt. From Mansoura, Egypt Prof A Mosbah covered a wide range of topics in re constructive urology and bladder cancer. Messers Islam Junaid, Shamim Khan, Munir Ahmed from UK shared their wide experience with the audience not only in clinical urology but also on new initiative in urological training i.e. sTeLi.
There was wide range of topics presented in oral, moderated poster and poster presentation from all over Pakistan. The 12th UROCON will be held in Hyderabad in January 2011.
